Alright,
Labor day weekend is here and I am stuck working… No really let me explain.
Last week I make plans to be at a birthday party tonight. Everything is going good, running smooth, and then I get a Email. It’s my boss from down at headquarters. The finance dept has scheduled a meeting for Tuesday morning (the day after Labor Day) you need to have all your Invoicing, Summaries, and timecards in by Saturday morning no exceptions.
Normally this wouldn’t be a problem except I run the one of the only sites in the company that is not shutting down Friday afternoon. My crew works till 1am. What that means for me, after working all day I get to go back in tonight to pick up their paperwork so I can input their data, and have it ready for the morning.
Alright, still not really bad, however than the kicker steps in… My headquarters is about an hour and a half away. I usually Fedex my paperwork to them overnight, but since this is a holiday weekend, tomorrow is Saturday, my package won’t reach the headquarters till Tuesday morning. Guess what, I now have to drive the paperwork down tonight at around 12-1am so that they have it first thing in the morning.
Now my plans have been canceled, I have to bail out on my friends, and I am not getting home till dawn from the looks of things.
Epic Fail if you ask me..!
Now please, don’t get me wrong, I actually really like my job, the company has taken great care of me, and I am charge of the entire Flint location. I can’t ask for to much more right now. Still, it is these minor inconviences that always seem to arise that frustrate me to no end.
What’s a guy to do?
My weekend doesn’t start till tomorrow so while all of you are out tonight, having fun, hanging with friends, goofing off, on a date… I’ll be thinking of you while I am crunching numbers, and entering data so Please do something fun for me!
